Notifications
Stay on top of activity that involves you, right inside the app.
SixGrid delivers notifications inside the app first, with email as a backup for when you're away. Right now, you get notified when someone comments on a to-do assigned to you (see To-do Comments). More notification types will be added over time.
In-App Notifications
- A Notifications entry in the left sidebar shows a pill with your unread count (capped at 9+).
- Click it to open a panel listing your notifications, each with a title, a preview of the comment, and when it happened.
- Clicking a notification takes you straight to that to-do with its discussion already open, and marks the notification read.
- New notifications appear within about 30 seconds while you have the app open. Checking pauses while the browser tab is hidden and resumes the moment you come back.
- You never get notified about your own actions, such as commenting on your own to-do.
Email Backup
In-app notifications always appear. Email is a backup layer, and it only sends when both of these are true:
- You've been away from SixGrid for 30 minutes or more. If you're actively using the app, you see the notification in-app instead of getting an email.
- The email type is enabled in your notification settings (it is on by default).
The comment email includes a View Discussion button that links directly to the to-do's discussion.
Notification Settings
Every user, regardless of role, can control which notification emails they receive on the Settings, Notifications page. You can reach it two ways:
- The Manage link at the bottom of the notifications panel
- The Notifications tab in Settings (Owners and Admins)
Each notification type has its own toggle, currently "Email me when someone comments on my to-do." Turning a toggle off silences the email only; the in-app notification still appears.
These settings cover activity notifications like comments. Emails for being added to a project, to-do assignments, and milestone reminders are described under Email Notifications.
